A member asked:

For at least 3 years now i have a charlie horse type pain in my right side when i yawn. it is a pain, tightness, and twitchy spasm that lasts just a few seconds. the power of the tension is enough to cripple me for those few seconds. any thoughts?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is likely that yawning pinches a nerve or muscle where the pain occurs. This type of pain is usually sudden, sharp but fleeting. Since you're not having pain on other occasions,I would consider this a nuisance rather than anything serious. Your MD can examine you & hopefully reassure you.
