Shingles is not passed from one to another like a sore throat. The germ causes chickenpox, and someone exposed to the debris from the sores could get chickenpox if they never had it. It is not passed in the air like chickenpox and once the wounds have dried out & healed there is no further risk. Only a small percentage of those vaccinated against chickenpox can ever get it in any setting.
