Had an upper premolar tooth removed. there is a wound that runs up side of gum on cheek side that looks like some bone was ripped off along with the tooth. is this normal?

Sometimes the bone around a damaged or infected tooth is also damaged, and is lost when the tooth is removed. The wound and the healing sequence should be visualized if you have any concerns. The Dentist or specialist Oral Surgeon that did the extraction is responsible for your post-surgical care. Call him/her for an examination.
