It appears that an esophageal motility disorder may be part of the problem as evidenced by the pain component. There are treatments for this and if this symptom is recurring I recommend consulting a gastroenterologist for evaluation and advice. Continue your appropriate diet& meds in the meantime.

While waiting for an appointment I would put the feet of the head of the bed up on 4 or 8 inch blocks as gravity never sleeps. This counteracts the gravity effects of you acid stomach contents wanting tending to run back into you gastro esoph juction and irritate it. Get the at Bed Bath and Beyond.
