Can an abdominal ultrasound detect ovarian cyst/cancer? had ultrasound bec of lower right abdomen pain, only found 4mm gallbladder stone and cystitis but doctor said those are not the cause of pain. ref me to an ob but have yet to set an appointment?

Abdominal ultrasounds might be limited to the area requested by the ordering doctor. It may also be more general and look at all abdominal structures. I assume most general studies would include the ovaries/uterus/kidneys/liver but there may be a difference in your country on what is included. Cancer would not be high on the list on what would be suspected at your age.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. A transvaginal ultrasound would be better at looking ovaries that an abdominal ultrasound. Get HPV vaccine. Wish you good health!
