A member asked:

Does emg and single fibre emg rule out muscular dystrophy, myopathic and neuromuscular disorders? i've been having muscle weakness and fatigue but both were normal. are there any neurological disorders that could evade these tests? thank you?

I would spend the $ for a month's access to uptodate.com and read all about MD, yopathies and Neuromuscuslar disorders. Your body is talking to you. Listen and take good notes about what brings it on, makes it better, family history. Then share with your Dr. You all will figure it out. The better notes you take the better Dr will be able to decide on which tests. Do you have chronic COVID?

An EMG study is a test to expand clinical understanding of the etiology of presenting symptoms. Results are correlated to arrive at a confirmed diagnosis. The study may or may not help, as it focuses solely upon muscle, peripheral nerve, and neuromuscular junction function, but not genetics, metabolic imbalance, or central nervous system disease.
