For the past 5 years i have debilitating muscle cramping and aching that occur all over my body during and after activity that has gotten worse. i have no muscle atrophy or weakness. can a muscle/neuromuscular disease present in this way?

At age 34, if your "cramping and aching" occurs after long intervals of relative inactivity, it is an expected outcome of muscular exertion after disuse.

Yes, a neuromuscular disorder could be associated with muscle pain and cramping, but your symptoms as described are too nonspecific to readily pin down. Would have your doctor check muscle enzymes and get a urine myoglobin test to exclude ongoing rhabdomyolysis. Since this is "debilitating", would have additional opinions from physiatrist, neurologist, or rheumatologist, if not yet done.
