Yes, a neuromuscular disorder could be associated with muscle pain and cramping, but your symptoms as described are too nonspecific to readily pin down. Would have your doctor check muscle enzymes and get a urine myoglobin test to exclude ongoing rhabdomyolysis. Since this is "debilitating", would have additional opinions from physiatrist, neurologist, or rheumatologist, if not yet done.
