Physical Therapy: You don't mention how long ago her trauma occurred. In general, whiplash-type neck pains can persist for months after a trauma. These are usually due to muscular and ligamentous strains, which respond (albeit slowly) to physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, massage, and time. If the pains are escalating, she should probably get checked out again to make sure there is no instability.

See a physician: If she has had a significant trauma to the neck, the first step is to have plain x-rays done as well as examination/evaluation by a physician for initial evaluation. Based on the x-rays and exam, further evaluation such as ct or MRI may be warranted. If no significant objective injury is seen on imaging studies, then treatment such as therapy and anti-inflammatory meds is usually initiated.
