A member asked:

Very good morning doctors. my 86 year-old friend had a urology examination and was told by the urologist thay he has kidney stones, but he has no symptoms at all and feels fine. should he have the kidney stones removed anyway, or can he leave them be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If he has no symptoms, at this age there is no need for any intervention. But he should have some basic tests about the stones to see if anything can be done to prevent progression. A periodic followup is also recommended.
