False positive, not false negative. There is a study in progress about the falsely positive (high) d-dimer when taking xarelto. Among 186,304 people taking Xarelto, 72 people (0.04%) have an increased d-dimer and it is considered an adverse effect and it is relatively rare (1 out of 2,500). If you take xarelto for a blood clot, d-dimer should normalize so d-dimer has been used for tx monitoring.
