A member asked:

My neurologist ordered an emg for me but prefers that one of her colleagues performs the test. she said it would be better to get a second person to do the test since she is too familiar with my case. is this reasonable?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

As long as the doctor performing the EMG is totally trained, certified, and experienced, there should be no rationale to avoid testing by a different doctor. The testing, if done properly is fully objective, and is helpful for clinical correlation.
