I was hit by a line drive from a softball in my right calf directly. had instantaneous swelling almost the size of a softball. its been three days and the swelling has gone down but the calf still has a knot the size of a golf ball. painful?

Warm compresses may help with resolution of blood in the tissue, hematoma. If it is improving, give it time and let nature take its course. You may take acetaminophen for pain, no more than 4 g in one day, no alcohol.

I would add mild message with moist heat. A heating pad with a damp face cloth. Ibuprofen or Aleve can be taken as well to help with inflammation. Long-standing hematomas can calcify. Stretching and strengthening will be needed to get back to full activity.
