A member asked:

Hip x-ray shows "spherical density of the medial aspect of the femoral heads and osteophytosis of the right acetabular roof." what does it mean? hip pain 2wks, worse when bearing weight and when immobile for extended time regardless of position?

It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. The information you provided suggests osteoarthritis. It would be prudent to see your primary care provider for an assessment and to ascertain if you need to see a rheumatologist. Wish you good health!

I would like to know the nature of the spherical density in the head of the femur and whether it's causing your discomfort. I think an orthopedic surgeon would be best to consult. Although this doesn't suggest a cyst, sometimes they occur there and the hip requires resurfacing for removal of the lesion & relief of pain.
