Very good afternoon doctors. after a radical prostatectomy, how soon after does one gain control over urination? does this control ever not return? is there any procedure or medications to speed up the ability to control urinary incontinence?

Good afternoon. It takes about a year or so to gain back continence. Return of control will depend on the kind of surgery- nerve sparing surgery has the highest chance of recovery. It can be helped by some medicines and pelvic exercises- but patience is required. If that fails there are procedures which can help. Stay in touch with your surgeon. Good luck
