A member asked:

I have a tooth abcess, have dentist apt tomorrow. i feel that the salivary glands on the same side of this tooth feel bigger and swell every meal, but arent painful, just sort of tender? could these two symptoms be related?

Yes, the two symptoms could definitely be related. Dental abscesses (tooth infections) can spread to involve adjacent salivary glands. That’s why it’s important to see a dentist ASAP for treatment.

A salivary gland that swells with every meal could indicate a blocked salivary duct. Your dental abscess may or may not be related to your salivary gland issue. Treat the infection and see how the gland issue progresses.
