Asking for 60yr se asian male living in se asia who was treated for tb now free from tb since 2015 but had a recent chest infection treated with antibiotics now has covid he is not vaccinated in area.he's symtomatic.what is best advice to give him?

Sorry to hear he wasn't vaccinated: he was playing with fire, especially if his past TB or other issues have left him with seriously compromised lungs. I hope he does well. How serious this is can't be judged with the information available: what symptoms does he have and how severe are they? Discuss with his doctors. For sure he needs vaccination after he recovers!

If otherwise well, most patients remain outpatients and may be managed with available antiviral treatment such as Paxlovid. The treatment is most effective if initiated earlier in the course of the COVID 19 infection. He should remain self isolated, drink fluids and rest. Monitor temperature and breathing. If he becomes in distress, please proceed to the Emergency room.
