A sore or ‘scratchy’ throat that affects one or both sides of the throat can often be caused by overuse, a viral or bacterial illness like the common cold, the flu, tonsillitis or strep throat. Less common causes include acid reflux, canker sores and rarely a tumor. The severity and duration of the sore throat & the presence or absence of other symptoms helps us identify the cause.
