Cold: what you describing is laryngitis. It is mostly caused by viral infection. Run humidifier, elevate the head of the bed and try to get your child to blow his nose

Cough: when did your 4 year old go to the doctor? Symptoms can progress and worsen even if the ears, nose, and throat were fine days previously. If the symptoms are worse or you are concerned, please schedule a follow up visit with your pediatrician. If there is any difficulty breathing, see a doctor immediately.
