My nephew is 16 months old.he has 100 degrees fahrenheit fever,going down only after having tylenol.not eating anything.doctor said could be viral,only to give tylenol if the temperature is above 99.no other symptoms.it has been 3 days.what to do?

I don't bother giving Tylenol or any other anti-fever meds for low grade fever. If the kid acts "sick" it might help, but low fevers are not harmful. Some viral illnesses can last a week or more.

COVID 19 testing is suggested. Keep your son well hydrated, encourage nap time and avoid contact with the elderly. His temperature and breathing may be monitored. If other symptoms develop, please see your Pediatrician. Watch for fever lasting more than three days, red eyes, rash and cough. A temperature of 99 dose not require Tylenol. Most viral illnesses resolve within one week to 10 days.
