Cool water, ibuprofen: Check tylenol (acetaminophen) dose for his weight. Try sponging his head and body with lukewarm water, in the tub or on a towel. The water cools by evaporation so do not dry his skin. Give clear fluids. If all fails, try Ibuprofen in the correct dose for weight. If he is playful and looks well, try not to worry; if he is listless or continues to look very ill, he may need to be rechecked by the doctor.

I would like : To think that your pediatrician gave you suggestions. If they did, follow them. If they did not, i would recommend another pediatrician. Monitor that temperature very closely, if it does not go down you really need to follow up with the doctor. Keeping your child well hydrated is important, and trying to lower the body temp this can be done with bathing and compresses on the head.
