A member asked:

If you had a fall, broke neck and injured your cervical spinal cord, if the spinal injury was only partial, would it still be possible to walk 25 metres immediately after the fall if the damage done to the spinal cord was severe and life-threatening?

Ask as often as you wish. The answer does not change. The spinal cord is prone to pinching/binding when the protective bony sheath breaks, The break doesn't necessarily harm the cord, but shifting bone pieces will. Temporary abilities that could be preserved if a cervical collar was put in place immediately. Unprotected movement would likely end in permanent damage.

As previously answered, the initial spinal cord symptoms will worsen with repetitive motion, and onset of swelling over the next 24-36 hrs, if interventional treatment is not commenced. Perhaps you might benefit from discussion with a neurosurgeon regarding current prognosis.
