I have von willebrand disease. i recently wanted to donate blood and they told me i couldn't because of this. i understand that any blood related disorders prevent you from donating but i would like to know why my particular disorder is not permitted?

Donor blood needs to have at least average clotting ability. By definition your does not. Your blood does not transfer the disorder to the recipient, but the tendency not to clot is present. The recipient has already been judged in need of blood during a procedure or disorder where they have lost blood.
