What could cause a lower iron level for 3-4 years that we know of? menstruating 33 year old female. usually has about a 38 iron level even when taking iron. ferritin, hemaglobin, andtibc are good. iron saturation is low. rbc are slightly high at 5.89?

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, if your hemoglobin is normal and you do not have any symptoms, do not worry about a lab value, Your iron seems to be normal. Wish you good health!
