Any iron source will raise iron levels. Low doses like gentle iron may take longer, but can still be effective as long as the reason for iron deficiency does not outpace iron replacement.

A good iron pill usually has 65 mg of elemental iron. You should look closely to the ingredient table to see if that ferrous gluconate contains 28 mg of elemental iron. If there is 28 mg of elemental iron, you need an average of 5-6 tablets of that pill a day for the first 3 months and then 2-3 pills a day at a maintenance dose in blood loss persists. Treat the cause of blood loss is the mainstay.
