The back of my right ankle,right at the achilles tendon area,makes a cracking sound when i walk down stairs,when doing calf raise motions or sometimes just when walking.been going on for at least 1month.no pain or inflammation.should i be concerned?

Without exam it is hard to diagnose. So pl see an ortho MD to make sure.

The snapping sound is the tendon sliding over something making a sound. If new I feel an exam is only method to determine the cause. Swelling of the tendon can produce such a sound but would indicate an injury.
