I have chronic kidney disease stage 2 because of htn or more likely because i have been prone to developing kidney stones. but when i asked a couple doctors if i should see a kidney specialist, they said don't bother. why not?

It has most of the time to do with the rate of progression of CKD and the chance of needing dialysis that prompts a consult, but a variety of other factors may contribute to the reluctance for the referral, including availability and reputation of local nephrologists.
