What long lasting impact does alcohol use have on an early pregnancy during weeks 1-4 of pregnancy? is there a chance of long-standing issues to the fetus?

Heavy alcohol intake during the course of pregnancy can cause fetal damage, and therefore standard advice is to avoid any alcohol. On the other hand, many women are unware of early pregnancy, and therefore there are millions of unintentional alcohol exposures in the first 1-4 weeks, without obvious harm. If there has been heavy alcohol during this time, discuss with your obstetrician.
