The trauma could have resulted in bleeding in the tissue, hematoma. A surprising amount of blood may be lost in the muscle and cause pain on movement. One day after injury you may try warm compresses to facilitate the resolution of hematoma. If the issue does not improve, not fully resolve but be less painful, in a day or two, it would be prudent to see a doctor.
