A member asked:

How do i increase my ferritin if my iron levels are normal? my ferritin is at a 23 and i want them to be at a 70. if i have to take iron, how much should i take to raise my levels and how much to maintain my ferritin levels?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Raising ferritin is not a worthwhile health goal. A ferritin of 23 is no worse than 70. You may take oral iron and multivitamins to avoid anemia from menstrual blood loss, but do not get hung up on a laboratory value. Wish you good health!
