If you develop swelling and/or black & blue discoloration an xray would be indicated to look for a fracture. A contusion or a severe sprain of the foot can be a serious injury also. The shaking is a nonspecific reaction of weakness of the injured structures. Did you apply cold compresses and elevate the foot? Persistent pain,swelling,or discoloration are indications to be examined by a physician
