A member asked:

A 80 man who had a fall, broke his neck, said he had numbness and tingling in his legs and said he could not feel his legs despite being able to walk, were they symptoms of just broken neck, or other injuries such as spinal cord, stenosis, myelopathy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Leave the terminology to his doctors. Bottom line is initial damage to the most outer portion of spinal cord, explaining the leg symptoms. This is secondarily due to the effect of the broken neck impinging or compressing the spinal cord.
