A member asked:

Do people with type 2 diabetes eventually develop pancreas cancer? afraid because i was diagnose so young at 28 with a alc of 7.0 . my risk is high ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Diabetes is a risk factor for pancreatic cancer, though pancreatic cancer is still a relatively rare cancer. Other as important risk factors are smoking, drinking alcohol, obesity, chronic pancreatitis etc. Staying at a normal weight and keeping the A1c close to normal will decrease the risk of cancer but mostly will reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease which kills half of us.
