No, the treatment used for GERD can sometimes cause diarrhea, having the diarrhea assessed by your gastroenterologist or primary care doc would be best in case persistent. Keep a log of type of food and drinks with associated symptoms and take with you at your visit.

GERD by itself does not cause diarrhea, however the same disease process may be responsible for both abnormalities. It would be prudent to consult a GI doctor. If you are overweight, losing weight is imperative.
