Cirrhosis is an advanced stage of scarring from inflammation due t hepatitis including Hep B. It could be slowed down with some improvement with medications available to treat. It is important to not drink alcohol or take medication that could add damage to the liver. It is also recommended that she be vaccinated with Hep A vaccine and I hope other family member could get both Hep A and B vaccine

If the diagnosis of cirrhosis is confirmed with a biopsy, this lesion is irreversible. It would be prudent to consult a gastro-enterologist for treatment and to ascertain if a liver transplant may be warranted. Wish you and your sister good health!
