Several: You may have an infection. This is deep down inside multiple layers of skin kissing each other and can cause your symptoms. You may have gotten an insect bite? Chigger, tick, mite? You may have an allergic reaction to some chemical in the belly button. Soaps, lotions, etc. Omphalitis can occur and may need antibiotics and other treatment. If red, painful, streaking, hot or pus, get seen!

It shouldn't : It typically shouldn't. I would be concerned about an infection if there is a lot coming out.
