A member asked:

Is years chronic constipation an alert to have a colonoscopy earlier then recommended age with no family history of colon cancer?

Chronic constipation alone is not an indication for earlier colon cancer screening. Depending on severity of dysfunction or other associated signs/symptoms, a doctor may order a diagnostic colonoscopy to see what is going on, but that is different than ordering a colonoscopy specifically to screen for colon cancer.

You should get colonoscopy at ten years before the youngest age at which a close relative got colon cancer. Constipation per se is not an indication for early colonoscopy. You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods.
