A member asked:

Had colonoscopy in 2015 was normal no polyps. turning 50 this year is it necessary for another due to age or can it wait a year or so? recommended age for this test is 50 but had one at 45 for minor gastritis. no family history of colon cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Follow the recommendations to have colonoscopy for your own safety. Since there are options such a swallowing a camera which takes pictures (not as good as colonoscopy), do discuss this with your family doc to see which is best for YOU considering your family history and your own. Good luck
