Any antibiotic can have side effects. It would not be my first choice for chronic UTI but I do not Know the specifics of your problem. Pl ask your Urologist to explain his choice. In the meantime drink plenty of water, empty your bladder after sex, dont hold urine when you get the urge, keep the vulvo-vag. area clean and avoid constipation. This should help. Good luck
