Just so i understand after hiv exposure and symptoms if i test negative after symptoms the test would be positive if it was from hiv? keep getting sick but negative 4th gen after 5.5 months?

You correctly understand. The symptoms of acute HIV infection are not due to the virus itself, but are the result of the body's immune system response to it. That means antibody is always produced and detectable in blood. Negative HIV testing more than a week after start of symptoms proves that the symptoms present are not from HIV infection.
