A member asked:

When is blepharoplasty considered medically necessary? when is the ptosis bad enough for medicare to agree? how is it determined?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Medically necessary blepharoplasty is determined by superior visual field testing and in office measurements of lid position in addition to photos. If the measurements and testing support a blepharoplasty, then your insurance will cover the surgery. See an Ophthalmologist and those tests can be performed.
