I have had an on and off issue with loss of sensation in my mouth and tongue for couple of months. not numb, but mouth constantly just feels weird. had thyroid and normal blood test about a year ago. seems worse when trying to sleep. what is this?

Need more information about what you eat in the evening, if you brush, how you brush, do you use alcohol based mouth wash, what medications do you take. It does not seem to be an urgent issue and you may address it with your doctor next time you see her/him. Wish you good health!

Lab tests are a slice in time. They are not valid a year later. Lots of things can cause loss of sensation, from neurologic disorders to physical impairment of nerve pathways to systemic diseases. Seek evaluation by a specialist in Oral Medicine and a Neurology specialist.
