There are several drugs in this category(called TCAs) and as a class these drugs(Amitriptyline, Imipramine and Nortriptyline) are sometimes used as antidepressants. Not feasible to provide advice if we are not clear as to why it was started initially, and what symptoms need to be addressed. If you have to ask your doctor about specific medications for your condition, any shared decision making will be coming from you. Consider a virtual consult here at HT, where we can be more thorough and address your needs. (www.connect@healthtap.com)
