My son,35,been having soreness in either 1 or both armpits,only happens if stretches arms up hard, has for over year, now 4 days ago, side of neck hurts only if he bends or coughs, no other symptoms no lumps,goes away with advil,is this serious?

Any intermittent pain, soreness or limitation of movement should be carefully evaluated by a Dr. A full physical including labs, vital signs and examination may reveal specific causes or associated problems. Only after careful evaluation and diagnosis can the Dr determine if it is something serious or not.
