A member asked:

I've had the hepatitis-a infection for 4 months but now it's confirmed that the infection is fully gone and i'm recovering quite well. would like to know, if that duration of 4 months is considered as acute or chronic hepatitis-a?

Chronic Hepatitis A typically is diagnosed when a Hepatitis A infection lasts longer than 6 months. Infection can be confirmed by blood tests or symptoms. If you are Hep A negative at 4 months, then what you had was acute Hep A which is now resolved. Since you have now built immunity to Hep A, you are less likely in the future to contract Hep A again.

I have seen a couple of acute hepatitis A cases take months to resolve with eventual complete liver recovery.
