Not uncommon is the simultaneous maturation of two follicles , sometimes one sided and/or on opposite sides. This would not be a frequent occurrence. Pain on both sides could also be caused by pelvic infection. See your GYN physician for an exam and further testing (ultrasound and/or culture).
