Yes but you must discuss with your cardiologist. GI side effects are rare with BBS. Go to drugs.com and entered all drugs u r taking and see if they are interactions with other meds that would cause gi issues.

I'm not familiar with the 20 mg strength of metoprolol but have prescribed 25 or 50 mgs of it numerous times. I would consider abdominal pain a rare side effect. If you're taking the tartrate salt try switching to the succinate extended release form which you'd take once a day, but only if your prescribing physician agrees. Atenolol is another beta blocker to try.
