My neuro says my 10 hour eeg test was useless because i did not sleep however i had my episode during those 10 hours, why would he say this? i thought the point of eeg was to catch an episode on recording to see if activity is abnormal or not??

A study that evaluates the different brain wave patterns (there are several) that occurs during sleep & the possible contribution of those states to disordered brain electrical activity is incomplete if sleep does not occur. He may consider it an poor study because the patterns could not be assessed. It would be worth more if it they were. Worthless is a matter of perspective.
