Im 148 to 152 pounds in was diagnosed with a hiatle hernia. im a back and side sleeper(left side). however, i tend to slightly lay on my stomach. can laying on my stomach partially cause enough pressure to make the hernia larger?

It should not. If your raise the head of your bed for 6-8 inches with bricks, you can lessen the abdominal pressure on the diaphragm and that position also alleviates the chance of gastric reflux.
