A member asked:

Does long term use of anti-seizure drug such as neurontin changes brain chemistry permanently in some way or another?? i have been on neurontin 100 mg for nerve pain and mild restless legs. i am worried about long term use effect on brain, is it safe?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

There is NO evidence that Neurontin or any other anti-epileptic drug has potential to permanently change "brain chemistry", but does modify neurotransmitter function while being used. 100 mg is extremely low dose, and may have suboptimal benefits to treat your conditions.
