A member asked:

My child is vitamin d deficient. he's 16 almost 17. he turns 17 in a month. i've been giving him vitamin d3 4000 ui everyday for a week now, but i'm not sure if that's how much he should be taking since he's deficient. maybe he needs more?

Vitamin D is fat soluble, so levels will not increase until fat stores are saturated which can take about 2-3 months. Likely the 4,000 IU's is fine. Goal is about 50-70 ng/ml, and a blood test can guide future dosing.
